The ONLY movies that are as good as the books (in my opinion) are the ones that are ENTIRLY different (ex: Ella Enchanted & How to Train Your Dragon)

IN most cases they do, MOrtal KOmbat 1 and Lord of the rings 1 and 2 are good.
Movies are only good when done by the same people that did the original work, as FFVII AC and tekken animated movie (while the other SUCKS!!!).

Oh, thanks! :la: But, you don't have to have a premium to use it! See down on it down under the groups where it says "details"? There's a thumb there. Just copy/paste that into the deviantID section of your page. It should come right up! (If it doesn't, and you still want to use it, you may have to watch me first. :hmm: You can do this with most stamps. But for some reason, sometimes you have to watch the user before it will come up. :shrug:) Just look at my page! I have lots of stamps there, and I don't have a premium. =)

Agreed. I once read this really awesome book, and when I rented the movie, the movie SUCKED. At least I didn't watch the movie first, or else I'd been to horridfied to read the book. ^^

Yeah, very good point.
ALWAYS READ THE BOOK FIRST.
Unless, of course, you want a big surprise when you read the book. =)

I watched all the Harry Potter movies (except for the 7th) before I read the book, so when I read the book I excepted it to be like the movie. And when I read the 7th book, and watched the 7th movie, I had the book in mind the whole time. Weird, huh?

Oh, and I mean horrified, not horridfied. ^^;

I don't know... I liked The Golden Compass. Movie versions usually disappoint me, but I liked that this movie was able to maintain the atmosphere of the books, with a bit of extra steampunk touch. (Which might be in the book, but I "forgot" to imagine during reading ^^; ) True, the missing scenes from the end are... missing, and I was upset because of that, but some people's intolerance (that caused this) is more upsetting. :( Oh, and I liked the "Mrs Coulter hitting her daemon" scene, which I believe isn't in the book. (I should re-read...)
The main problem might be that people not having read the books don't get a bit of what's happening. ^^; My boyfriend enjoyed it, but it must be due to my commentary to make him understand the scenes. Later he started the books, but he still likes the movie.

Anyway, I agree with the stamps message. ;)

It wasn't as bad as Eragon...that movie scarred my very being when I saw it...but I still definitely preferred the book to the movie :P
Even the Harry Potter series were...at times...a little inaccurate. I guess I'm just more a books person ^^;

So do I :D

And why do I think HP movies are not that good? It's because Harrys personality have changed too much. It feels like he knows his importance, he seems to be egoistic, even in the first movies, and there's too much emphasis on him, and even Hermione and Ron are mocked.
Not to mention, I'm disappointed about the magic they use in the movies, I mean, the spells in the books are much more diverse.
But other things are OK, or at least not bad.
